Ravi de Silva LLB., Sri Lanka and FCIB, UK, Attorney at Law Sri Lanka.
During his long career in banking, beginning as management trainee at Commercial Bank in Sri Lanka and through several branch managerial and central credit and risk roles, he has served as Area Compliance Officer and in Credit and Risk management roles in HSBC Bahrain, HSBC’s Chief Credit Officer in Bermuda during a turbulent time of the Global Financial Crisis that spread from the latter half of 2007 to 2010 and its aftermath and as HSBC’s Chief Risk Officer in Iraq.
The prevailing conflict in Iraq at the time, gave rise to elevated operational risk vulnerability particularly fraud risk.
In the above roles Ravi established Credit Risk, Compliance / AML (Anti-Money Laundering), Internal Control and Audit teams in an integrated structure following HSBC Group practices and procedures. The work introduced globally applicable disciplines and achieved desired regulatory risk control and management outcomes.
Served from 2017 to end 2024 as
(a) Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Banks’ Association (SLBA representing all Licensed Banks in Sri Lanka. Through his role at SLBA, he served as
(b) Observer’ on board of directors of LankaPay Pvt Ltd.,
(c) Board member of Lanka Financial Services Bureau Ltd,
(d) Secretary board of directors Financial Ombudsman Sri Lanka (FOSL) - currently in this role.
Shrimathi de Silva LLB. Hons., University of Kent Law School, brings a wealth of secretarial and administrative experience in the private, state and volunteer sectors both locally and internationally. Her experience offers a cost-efficient, outsourcing option for a range of company secretarial services. During stints at OTB SL, Hayleys SL, Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance Bahrain, Mello Jones and Martin Legal Firm in Bermuda, BTF Lister Estate Agents and Land Surveyors Canterbury UK, and Board of Directors of Citizens Advice Bureau Canterbury (honorary) who managed the cancer support funding for Macmillan Trust UK Shrimathi has gained unique experience and knowledge in a wide range of commercial and social impact activities.
